3 Tips for Healthy Snacking:

1. Read Ingredient Lists – When buying packaged items, always make sure you read the ingredient list to be sure it’s healthy and doesn’t contain harmful additives. Avoid items that have artificial ingredients such as artificial sweeteners and hydrogenated oils.

2. Quality over Quantity – Just because a snack has more calories doesn’t mean it’s bad. Almonds, for example, are high in calories but are nutrient dense making them a better snack than a low-calorie energy bar. It’s important to eat foods rich in vitamins and nutrients even if it means eating a few more calories. Just be sure you moderate portion sizes.

3. Choose real, whole foods – Instead of reaching for that prepackaged snack bar, go for real food like fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Bonus Tip: Try to include foods that contain protein, healthy fats, and fiber because these are essential to keeping us healthy and full. Also, don’t forget the carbohydrates for extra energy!
